Overview

StudyBuddy is a student-focused web application designed to help users organize their study tasks, manage deadlines, and plan their time more effectively. The main goal of the project was to create a clean and simple interface that supports productivity without overwhelming users with too many features.

Many existing productivity apps feel complicated and distracting, so StudyBuddy focuses on essential tools that students actually need for studying. The project emphasizes usability, clarity, and accessibility across devices.

Goals

TASK CLARITY

Design a structured system that helps students add, track, and prioritize assignments without clutter.

TIME MANAGEMENT

Support weekly planning so students can visualize deadlines and manage study time more effectively.

FOCUSED EXPERIENCE

Keep the interface minimal and distraction-free so the app feels simple, clear, and student-friendly.

StudyBuddy aims to simplify academic planning by combining clarity, usability, and thoughtful design into one streamlined tool built for students.

Planning

The planning phase focused on understanding the problem students face with time management and identifying the most important features needed. I researched similar productivity tools and noted that many were too complex for academic use.

Based on this, I outlined the core features, defined the target audience, and planned the structure of the application. A project timeline was created to break the work into stages, including research, wireframing, development, styling, and testing.

Wireframes

Wireframes were created to visualize the layout and user flow before development. These low-fidelity wireframes helped define the structure of each page and how users would move through the app.

The wireframes focused on simplicity, clear navigation, and logical task flow. Designing wireframes early helped identify usability issues and ensured that the final design stayed user-centered and organized.

Reflection

This project helped me strengthen my understanding of user-centered design and front-end development. One of the biggest takeaways was learning how important simplicity is in design — removing unnecessary features often improves usability.

I also gained experience in planning projects more efficiently and translating wireframes into functional layouts. If I were to continue improving StudyBuddy, I would add progress tracking and user customization options while keeping the interface minimal.
