Overview
I designed an A3 poster inspired by the Swiss Design style to communicate a humanitarian awareness event for Khalsa Aid. The purpose of the poster is to highlight Khalsa Aid’s mission of “Serving Humanity” and to visually communicate their commitment to global relief and community support.
The design focuses on strong typography, a structured layout, and limited visual elements to keep the message clear and direct, which aligns with the Swiss approach to communication design.

Process
I started by researching the Swiss Design style, focusing on grid systems, typographic hierarchy, and minimal layouts. From there, I planned the content hierarchy, starting with the main title “Khalsa Aid” and the tagline “Serving Humanity” as the focal point.
Next, I organized the body text into clear sections to guide the reader’s eye from top to bottom. I kept the typography simple and structured, making sure alignment and spacing were consistent.
I used a limited colour palette inspired by warmth and humanitarian values, and included one main graphic element (the Khalsa Aid symbol) to reinforce brand identity without overpowering the text. Throughout the process, I adjusted spacing, alignment, and font sizes to improve readability and visual balance.
Final Product
Reflection
This project helped me better understand how powerful typography can be when it’s used correctly. Working within the Swiss Design style forced me to be more intentional with layout, spacing, and hierarchy instead of relying heavily on decorative elements.
One challenge was balancing visual interest while keeping the design minimal. I learned that even small changes in alignment, font weight, or spacing can significantly improve clarity.
Overall, this assignment strengthened my confidence in using InDesign, working with grid-based layouts, and designing with purpose. If I were to improve this poster further, I would refine the colour usage even more and explore a more strictly typographic version to push the Swiss style further.
