Process
Research
I researched essential specifications on Canadian products that would be necessary for this project, walked through aisles of stores to see what really stood out to me, and used that to visualize my product. With this, I created a spec sheet for my specific requirements.
Photoshop
While creating the box in Photoshop, I wanted the design to display motion and the fun you feel when eating the cereal. I used swirls to show motion (and also represent stripes). After the shape and movement felt right, I moved on to layout and required info. I added a product visual and made it feel less flat using shadow + distortion. To show flavour, I created small graphics for the fruit flavours.
After Effects
After finalizing the graphic elements, I built 3D mockups of the box to make it feel like a real-world product. I positioned the product and adjusted lighting for the final visual, then added a catchy slogan to make the product more memorable.
Reflection
This project enhanced my skills in visual design and reinforced the importance of thorough research and iteration in the design process.
